Lucknow: A 19-year-old girl was brutally murdered in full public view in Dherha village of Kaushambi district on Monday evening.
According to police, the victim, who was returning home after grazing her cattle in the fields, was accosted by two brothers, Ashok Paswan and Pawan Paswan, who are accused in separate criminal cases.
An altercation ensued, the Paswan brothers attacked the girl, hacking her to death with an axe in full public view.The incident sparked outrage and fear among the villagers, who immediately alerted the police authorities. Senior police officers, including Additional DG Prayagraj Zone Bhanu Bhaskar and IG Prayagraj Chandra Prakash, rushed to the scene to oversee the investigation and maintain law and order.
SHO Mahewaghat, Vinod Kumar Singh, disclosed that the girl had filed a rape case against Pawan Paswan three years ago. The Paswan brothers had been continuously pressuring the girl’s family to withdraw the case and settle the matter out of court. They had even threatened to kill her if she did not comply.
ADG Bhaskar said multiple teams have been formed to apprehend the Paswan brothers.
