MODASA: At least three persons were killed and over 40 sustained injuries when a state transport bus collided with a motorcycle and subsequently crashed into a private bus ferrying pilgrims in Gujarat‘s Arvalli district on Saturday, police said.
The police reported that the accident took place at approximately 11am near Sakaria village on a state highway.
According to an official, the sequence of events unfolded when the state transport bus struck a motorcycle, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.As a result, the bus veered off its lane, jumped the road divider, and collided head-on with a luxury bus traveling on the opposite side of the highway.
The official further stated that the luxury bus was carrying passengers who were returning to Savli in Vadodara after completing a pilgrimage to the revered Jagannath Temple located in Puri, Odisha.
Sub-inspector Ajaysinh Rathod said three persons were killed, and more than 40 passengers sustained injuries.
The motorcyclist, a woman travelling in the luxury bus, and another passenger were killed, he said.
Several individuals from the two buses sustained injuries during the incident. Approximately 15 to 20 passengers were transported to a medical facility located in Himatnagar, situated in the adjacent Sabarkantha district, to receive necessary treatment. The remaining injured passengers are currently undergoing medical care at a hospital in Modasa, he added.
