A woman and her pet dog have died after a fiery crash involving a public bus and a car in Perth’s northern suburbs.

Emergency crews were called after reports a white Hyundai i30 hatchback had collided with a Transperth bus on Warwick Rd in Warwick, about 8am on Monday.

The car then caught on fire following the crash, which was about 20m west of Lloyd Drive.

The 50-year-old woman driving the car was treated for critical injuries by paramedics at the scene.

She was taken by ambulance to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, where she died a short time later.

Three dogs were also travelling in the car with the woman.

One dog was killed in the crash, while the other two dogs were later found by council rangers after running from the scene.

The 48-year-old female driver of the bus and the passengers on-board were not injured.

It is understood the bus was carrying mostly school-aged children travelling to school.

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are investigating the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
