NEW DELHI: King Charles, who is currently undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, reportedly wishes to be unbothered, including from his younger son, Prince Harry.
The two met briefly when Harry visited London after learning of his father’s diagnosis, but they did not meet during the Duke of Sussex’s most recent trip to the UK.
According to royal commentator Michael Cole, the king’s decision not to meet with Harry was based on practicalities.”The king is facing an unspecified cancer. That is really a harrowing thing for any person to do. He doesn’t want his equilibrium to be upset,” Cole explained on GB News.
He emphasised that Charles, as the head of state, must maintain his public duties and appearances while also focusing on his recovery.
Cole further noted that the king finds it upsetting that Harry has made “heartless and cruel” remarks about him and Queen Camilla, which has deeply affected Charles. The royal expert suggested that the king wishes to avoid the emotional distress caused by these comments, stating, “I think any physician will tell you when you’re undergoing treatment of this kind, the best thing to be is relaxed and clear your own mind.”
In a separate development, royal expert Tom Quinn revealed that Charles was “furious” about Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent trip to Nigeria, which bore all the hallmarks of an official royal visit. Quinn described the king’s anger as unprecedented, saying, “Charles is said to be angrier than anyone has ever seen him.”
