NEW DELHI: After a long and harsh spell of heatwave, a sudden change in weather conditions brought light showers in parts of Delhi-NCR bringing much-needed respite from the blistering heat.
Areas, including Sadar Bazar, RK Puram, Gurugram and Noida witnessed rain in the afternoon.
The rain was accompanied by cool winds, creating a more comfortable environment across the National Capital Region.

A day ago, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted light to moderate intensity rain and winds for various parts of Delhi NCR and surrounding regions.
The IMD has predicted that the maximum temperature is likely to settle around 40 degrees Celsius in Delhi.
The department had also predicted a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of rain, thunderstorm or dust storm on Friday and Saturday.

Swathes of northern India, including Delhi, have been enduring a prolonged heatwave, leading to an increase in heat stroke casualties. In response, the Centre has issued an advisory to hospitals to establish special units to care for these patients.
