After facing disappointments due to the unavailability of tickets on multiple flights, a woman fidgeting at a Doha airport with a standby ticket to fly to the United States had a blessing in disguise.
Sharing an incident that turned from ‘sour’ to ‘super sweet’, an American businessman said the Qatar Airways CEO arranged a business class ticket for his sister after she ran into him.
In a post shared on X, Paul-Bernard Jaroslawski said his sister was unable to fly out of Qatar for the United States with a standby ticket, which facilitates the travellers to board a flight only when a seat is available.
He said his sister tried flights to Chicago and even Washington, but the airlines refused to allocate a seat to his sister due to a weight management issue.
“At the gate for the flight to DC, the Qatar Airways employees tell her the same thing. They aren’t bringing on any more passengers due to weight management,” Jaroslawski said.
Jaroslwaski further wrote that the moment his sister lost hope and started getting anxious, a man approached her. The man was the Qatar Airways CEO — Badr Mohammed Al Meer.

“A man walked up to her and asked her why she is so sad. My sister told him everything about the situation,” Jaroslawski said.
His sister, who has not been named, was told by the man to wait at the business class lounge and assured her that things would work out. Later, Meer arranged a business class ticket for New York City.
“Incredible the power some people hold in this world. With a snap of a finger everything went from sour to super sweet,” Jaroslawski added.
After Jaroslawki’s sister boarded the flight, she got to know that she was lucky to have run into the Qatar Airways CEO as he barely walks around the airport.
