The campaign ad picked up cues from Ronald Reagan‘s campaign for president in 1980 where he asked, “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” Trump’s post makes this point by also claiming that, “Our economy is shattered. Our border has been erased. We’re a nation in decline.”
Trump was banned from Twitter than three years ago in the wake of the January 6 Capitol insurrection. After Musk acquired the microblogging service, Trump was reinstated to the platform in November 2022. But Trump refrained from posting to the platform since 2023 after being indicted on election interference charges.
This also comes happens as the former president prepares to be interviewed by Elon Musk. The billionaire, who has fully rooted for Trump will speak to the latter on on the X social media network on Monday, in an event that could give more surprises to the presidential race.
Meanwhile, the tesla CEO also announced his plans for the interview with the former president. Elon Musk on Monday said he plans on doing “some scaling tests”. In an earlier post, he said “Entertainment guaranteed.”
The re-entry of Trump into the microblogging platform also coincides with him falling behind his democratic rival and vice president Kamala Harris. In a recent poll, Kamala Harris has gained a significant edge over Donald Trump in three critical battleground states.
The survey by New York Times indicated that Harris commands 50 percent support among voters in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, compared to Trump’s 46 percent in each state.
