NEW DELHI: Congress on Sunday released a second list of candidates, adding 43 to the previously released list for the Rajasthan Assembly elections, scheduled to take place on November 25. The list featured state ministers Pratap Singh Khachariyawas and Govind Ram Meghwal.
While Meghwal has been fielded as the party’s candidate for Khajuwala constituency, Khachariyawas and Parsadi Lal Meena will fight for Civil Lines and Lolsot constituencies respectively.
Niranjan Arya, former chief secretary of Rajasthan and a close associate of chief minister Ashok Gehlot, will contest from Sojat constituency.

In the 2018 assembly elections, Congress secured 99 seats, while the BJP won 73 seats in the 200-member house. Gehlot assumed power with the backing of BSP MLAs and independent candidates.
Congress’ first list of 33 candidates released on Saturday featured prominent names like Gehlot, former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, state party chief Govind Singh Dotasra and speaker CP Joshi.
In the first list, the party decided to re-nominate sitting MLAs in 29 constituencies, while four others were chosen to challenge in seats held by BJP incumbents.
The vote count for Rajasthan assembly elections will take place on December 3.
