Leading the race for the chief ministerial position, he is currently enjoying a moment in the spotlight.
On Sunday, Revanth Reddy initiated his day by meeting with the state director general of police, Anjani Kumar.
Following the meeting, he embarked on a roadshow leading to the party headquarters in the city.
According to the latest trends from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Congress is currently in the lead with 68 seats, followed by BRS with 34 seats, BJP with 10 seats, AIMIM with 5 seats, and CPI leading on 1 seat.
Congress’ Revanth Reddy is comfortably leading from the Kodangal and Kamareddy seats.
Commencing his roadshow, Revanth Reddy witnessed a massive gathering that had assembled to support him, enthusiastically cheering and waving the party flag.
Earlier on Sunday, Telangana director general of police (DGP) Anjani Kumar, along with other police officials, convened a meeting with Revanth Reddy at his residence in Hyderabad.
Revelry and jubilation unfolded outside the Congress office in Hyderabad as the party comfortably crossed the halfway mark.
Party members joyously chanted “Bye bye KCR” in celebration of their success.
In a demonstration of exuberance, Congress workers expressed their joy by pouring milk on a poster showcasing Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, party MP Rahul Gandhi, and state party chief Revanth Reddy.
This celebration unfolded as the party emerged as the single largest party.
The outcome of the Telangana election holds significant importance for the Congress, especially as the party approaches the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
A victory in both Karnataka and Telangana would solidify the Congress’ footprint in the southern region, emphasizing its presence and influence in these key states.
A total of 3.17 crore voters were eligible to cast their votes to elect legislators for a 119-member Assembly in the recent elections.
As the Congress surpassed the majority mark in Telangana, member of Parliament Uttam Kumar Reddy expressed confidence, stating that the party is on the road to victory by addressing and rectifying the mistakes made in the 2014 and 2018 elections.
Uttam Kumar Reddy told ANI “Congress will form the government. The biggest reason for our win will be that the people of Telangana love the Gandhi family. There is a special place in their hearts. We made a mistake in the 2014 and 2018 elections. This time we corrected ourselves and are on the road to victory.”
Telangana went to the polls on November 30.
In the 2018 elections, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (then known as BRS) secured victory in 88 out of the 119 seats, obtaining a 47.4 percent vote share.
The Congress, in contrast, came in a distant second with 19 seats.
