CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: Video clips of two teachers purportedly indulging in sexual acts on the premises of a school in Beed, around 120km from here, have evoked sharp reactions from parents and the management in the institute.
The school authorities, in their complaint to the police, alleged that a man and a woman, both working as teachers in the minority educational institute, indulged in sexual acts in the examination department and other premises on the campus and shot videos of the act. These videos were circulated on social media, the complaint stated.
A peon working with the educational institute alerted the school authorities about the incidents on November 15. By then, the recordings had been widely circulated on social media.
The school principal lodged a police complaint on December 9 against the man and others for making the video clips viral on social media.
Based on the complaint, the Beed city police have registered an FIR against the male teacher under the Indian Penal Code section 292 (2) (obscene material), section 294 (obscenity), section 500 (defamation) and multiple provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Senior inspector Suresh Chate with Beed city police on Tuesday said the main accused was absconding. “Four cellphones belonging to him are switched off. We are sending search teams to Pune, where his family members stay,” he said.
Chate said a special lady officer has been appointed to record statements of all staffers of the school. As per official details, the school has 23 women and 36 men working as teachers.
One of the school trustees told TOI that the school management was fully cooperating with the police to expose the elements who had damaged the reputation of the 70-year-old institution.
The school management has suspended four teachers (the man and woman seen in the video and two other women teachers). “Two women, working as teachers, were over-friendly with the main accused,” the school management said.
“Besides them, two other women teachers have opted for voluntary retirement. As per some people, the videos are old and deliberately circulated out of personal enemity,” he said.
Police said a member of the Maharashtra State Commission for Women, advocate Sangita Chavan, visited the institution amid police protection.
