KALABURAGI: Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge raised concerns on Tuesday over PM Modi‘s foreign policy, accusing him of taking “everything personally” and deeming his handling of the Maldives dispute “inappropriate”.
Kharge underscored the importance of maintaining positive international relationships with neighbouring countries. “At the international level, we should keep good relationship with our neighbours. We should act according to the times. We cannot change our neighbours,” he said.
The controversy arose after PM Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep aimed at promoting tourism. Three Maldivian deputy ministers sparked a social media row by mocking Modi’s visit. This led to a heated exchange on social media involving politicians, government officials from both countries, and Indian social media users. tnn
