NEW DELHI: Cricket Australia (CA) is conducting an investigation into an incident involving star allrounder Glenn Maxwell, who was reportedly hospitalized following a night out in Adelaide.
The 35-year-old is expected to be questioned by CA about the recent incident, which occurred after he attended a concert featuring the band Six & Out, comprising former cricket greats like Brett Lee.
A spokesperson for Cricket Australia stated, “Cricket Australia is aware of an incident involving Glenn Maxwell in Adelaide at the weekend and is seeking further information.” Maxwell, known for his aggressive style of play, has been excluded from the upcoming 50-overs series against the West Indies. However, CA clarified that this decision is unrelated to the incident in Adelaide.
Maxwell is anticipated to return for the Twenty20 series against the West Indies, scheduled to begin on February 9 after the completion of the one-day international games.
Despite recent setbacks, Maxwell played a crucial role in Australia’s 50-overs World Cup victory against hosts India.
This incident is the latest in a series of mishaps for Maxwell, who previously missed a World Cup match due to an injury sustained while falling off a golf cart. Additionally, he broke his leg in November 2022 after slipping at a friend’s birthday party.
