NEW DELHI: NCP chief Sharad Pawar met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi on Friday, in discussions that were described as exchange of notes on the way forward for the opposition in the country and Maharashtra, and on INDIA alliance-related issues.
Sources said Pawar has invited Rahul to the agricultural institute in Baramati that he manages.Meanwhile, the discussions are said to have revolved around the strategy for national polls and for Maharashtra, where a post-split diminished NCP will be part of the alliance with Shiv Sena of Uddhav Thackeray and Congress. The senior leaders also discussed the possible date and venue of the next INDIA meeting, which was last held in Mumbai on September 1. The various panels of the INDIA bloc announced to thrash out details appear to have hit a wall, with the CPM refusing to nominate members to the coordination committee and TMC holding back names to other sub-committees. The INDIA alliance also has to start its national campaign with joint rallies. While the coordination panel had announced that the first public meeting will be held in Bhopal in the first week of October, MP Congress president Kamal Nath later said it had been cancelled, amid speculations that the decision was dictated by the Sanatan Dharma controversy.
Kharge posted pictures of the meeting on X, stating, “Today, along with Rahul Gandhi, met NCP President Sharad Pawar to further raise the voice of the people of the country. We are ready for every challenge.”

“When govt get nothing against Opposition then misuses…”: Sharad Pawar
