VIJAYAWADA: Former India cricketer and IPL star Ambati Tirupati Rayudu on Thursday joined YSRCP in the presence of chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Rayudu, 38, is tipped to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from native Guntur or Machilipatnam, or the assembly polls the same year, YSRCP sources said. The YSRCP leadership hopes his entry into the party would attract more youths towards it.

Rayudu retired from all forms of cricket after the 2023 IPL season.

He had spoken about entering politics a month after announcing his retirement, without so far spelling out which party he would join.
Earlier, he announced his retirement from international cricket after being overlooked for the 2019 World Cup in England. Rayudu represented Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad in domestic cricket. He played for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, and Texas Super Kings in Major League Cricket.
