NEW DELHI: A court in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, has granted an extension until November 17 to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to finalise its scientific survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex and submit the corresponding report.
Upon the request made by the ASI, District Judge A K Vishvesh issued the order, as confirmed by Central government counsel Amit Srivastava.
It was explained in court that although the ASI has finished the survey, they require additional time to compile the report, which will include information about the equipment used in the survey work.
Previously, on October 5, the court had already granted a four-week extension to the ASI, emphasising that no further extensions would be given for the survey’s duration.
