NEW DELHI: Showing videos of attacks in Lakhimpur on vehicles and publicity material of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Congress on Saturday said Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is rattled by people’s response to Rahul Gandhi’s roadshow and is trying to sabotage it with the help of “BJP goons”.
Congress spokesperson Ajay Maken said Sarma is also forcing Congress to change the route of the Yatra on flimsy grounds, adding that BJP president JP Nadda had used the same course recently and did not face any problems. “We will not be scared… Rahul will not be scared. Sarma is such a coward that a CBI notice was enough to force him to defect from Congress to BJP, and so he thinks he can scare Congress through intimidation,” he said.
Maken said the Bharat Jodo Yatra did not face any problems even in BJP-led states, but Sarma is trying to prove his loyalty to the BJP leadership through such tactics.
Addressing the public in Lakhimpur, Rahul said, “We say that Assam will not be run from Delhi, it will be run from here. Your CM is the most corrupt CM in the country. He can teach other BJP CMs to commit corruption. Don’t think he works for Assam. Whatever Modi says, he follows it by giving him a salute.”
