Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus’s wife Deborah Chemke has passed away after a battle with cancer.
Prime Minister Albanese confirmed the sad news on Wednesday and said the Attorney-General would be taking a leave of absence.
“This is a time he [Mr Dreyfus] should be allowed to grieve and I ask for privacy for him and his family,“ Mr Albanese told reporters.
Ms Chemke was diagnosed with mouth cancer in late 2005.
More to come.
