LUDHIANA: A resident of Jalandhar allegedly killed an elderly person whose married daughter, living in Australia, refused to marry him. The accused committed the crime along with his nephew and later dumped the body in bushes at Pandori village near Dakha.
However, later, the accused, identified as Ranjit Singh Kahlon of Bath Kalan in Nakodar area of Jalandhar distrit, sent a message to the woman, apologising for killing her father, and shared the location where he had thrown the body.The accused’s nephew was identified as Gulli.
Vikram Saggar, son of the deceased Ravinderpal Singh, 60, who worked as an LIC agent, told cops that on Aug 26, his sister Kirandeep called him, informing that their father’s number was not reachable, following which he went to his house to check, but didn’t find his father and his car. He said he found his father’s car near a petrol pump in Dugri. The next day, he lodged a complaint. Saggar told cops that on the night of Aug 28, he came to know that a body of an elderly man was found at Pandori village on GT road near Mullanpur Dakha area. The next day, he, went to Ludhiana Civil hospital and identified the body.
When he informed his sister Kirandeep about the incident, she told him that she met Ranjit on Tik Tok social media site. In March, he also went to Australia to meet her and they used to meet quite often, he added. His sister told him that Ranjit used to drink liquor a lot and abuse her in inebriated condition. He was also pressurising his sister to divorce her husband and marry him, else he would kill her or her family members. He claimed that after the threat, a case was lodged against the accused in Australia. The Australian govt deported him in June. Gulli has been arrested. tnn
