While cheering for the team from the stands at the Chepauk, Sakshi shared an Instagram story in which she asked the team to wrap up the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad quickly as she is expecting to become an aunt soon.
“Please finish the game fast today @chennaiipl. Baby is on the way… Contractions have begun. Request from – to be Bua,” Sakshi’s post read.
Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad narrowly missed his second consecutive IPL century, while pacers Tushar Deshpande and Matheesha Pathirana dismantled the Sunrisers Hyderabad batting lineup as the Chennai Super Kings secured a 78-run victory.
Gaikwad’s 54-ball 98 and his 107-run partnership with Daryl Mitchell (52) helped CSK post a solid total of 212/3. Deshpande (4/27) and Pathirana (2/17) then delivered match-winning bowling performances, dismissing SRH for 134 in 18.5 overs.
Deshpande took the wickets of opener Travis Head (13) and Anmolpreet Singh (0) in his first over, along with Abhishek Sharma (15) and captain Pat Cummins (5). Pathirana removed the dangerous Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen, crushing SRH’s batting line-up.
With this decisive win, the five-time champions rose to third place in the points table.
CSK now have 10 points, with 5 wins in 10 matches.
Their next game will be against the Punjab Kings on Wednesday.
