JAIPUR: BJP national president JP Nadda on Wednesday portrayed the opposition INDIA bloc as a group of self-serving, dynastic parties steeped in corruption and said half the alliance’s leaders are either behind the bars or out on bail.
Addressing an election rally in Jhalawar, Nadda described the INDIA alliance as a “Bhrastachar Bachao Alliance” (save corruption alliance) that was formed solely to “protect their vested interests and shield their corrupt practices”.It was Nadda’s first campaign rally in Rajasthan. Dushyant Singh, the son of former CM Vasundhara Raje, is the BJP candidate in Jhalawar-Baran Lok Sabha constituency.
“Is Rahul Gandhi out on bail or not? Are Sonia Gandhi, Chidambaram, Sanjay Singh (of AAP) out on bail or not? Are Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia in jail or not?” asked Nadda. “Half the leaders of the INDI Alliance are in jail and half out on bail,” he added. The BJP chief, who arrived at 2 pm from Ujjain and received a grand welcome from Raje and a battery of BJP leaders in Jhalawar, reeled out the Narendra Modi government’s achievements.
Nari Shakti Vandan Bill will pave way for empowerment of women, says Nadda
Nadda cited the distribution of houses under PM Awas Yojana to 4 crore families and the significant progress in rural development such as road connectivity and sanitation through the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, among others.
“The Modi government has connected 350,000 villages via paved roads. Over 80 crore people are receiving free rations. The uplift of 25 crore people above the poverty line is a remarkable achievement. Under Ayushman Bharat, 55 crore people from different socioeconomic groups, including rickshaw-pullers, tea vendors, bus drivers, and cleaners, have been provided an annual insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh for critical illnesses,” said Nadda.
He also underscored the importance of the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill, which promises 33% reservation for women in Parliament. “This sincere effort will pave the way for the empowerment of women,” said Nadda.
Raje addressed the crowd at the rally and dwelt on her deep-rooted personal connection with the people of Jhalawar, asserting that her bond with them transcends political alliances. She assured the electorate that Dushyant Singh, who is currently a four-term BJP MP from Jhalawar-Baran constituency, has an unwavering commitment to serve them. Raje herself was elected as an MLA four times from Jhalrapatan constituency in Jhalawar and also represented the erstwhile Jhalawar Lok Sabha seat five times since 1989.
She accused the previous Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government of ignoring the development of Jhalawar-Baran region in the last five years because the region has been supporting BJP’s development politics.
Dushyant Singh echoed his mother’s sentiments and vowed to continue the development of the region. He promised to focus on developing infrastructure, augment farmers’ incomes, and create employment opportunities for the youth of the constituency.
