NEW DELHI: Just two days ahead of the Haryana assembly elections, former Sirsa MP and BJP leader Ashok Tanwar joined the Congress party on Thursday.
Ashok Tanwar joined the party at Rahul Gandhi‘s election rally at Bawania village in Mahendragarh district.
Soon after Tanwar walked onto the stage and it was announced that “aaj unki ghar vapsi ho gayi ha (today, he has returned to the Congress fold)”
Tanwar joined BJP in January, 2024
At the beginning of this year, Ashok Tanwar officially joined the BJP at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi.
In January, Tanwar expressed that his team was impressed by the overall progress made in the state and the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar over the past decade.
“Our sole mission now is to help the BJP surpass all previous records in both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. We will work to ensure the party secures over 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls,” Tanwar had said while joining the saffron party.
Tanwar, who was considered close to Rahul Gandhi had left the Congress in 2019 following differences with senior party leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Additionally, Tanwar had joined the AAP in April 2022. Before joining the AAP, he was with the Trinamool Congress briefly.
