A group of revellers kept their new year celebrations going well into the morning on Sydney’s most famous beach.
The eager group watched the first sunrise for 2023 from Bondi on Monday.
Some were still in high spirits with many dancing on the sand and one even takign a drink out of a shoe.
As some worse for wear slept off their big night, others decided to take a refreshing dip.
Dozens of brave partygoers chose to dive into the water for an early morning swim.
Couples were seen cuddling up on the sand as the sun rose.
The wild scenes come after thousands of Sydneysiders stepped out in style on Sunday filling pubs, clubs and streets across the city.
More than 225,000 people crowded into 49 vantage points across the city to watch the iconic midnight firework display.
More than 8.5 tonnes of fireworks were set off, as well as 80,000 pyrotechnic effects.
For some, it was a 17-hour wait after queuing from the early hours of the morning to score a good spot.
But as soon as the new year hit, it was all worth it with cheers heard across the city.
Police said the public were largely “well-behaved” throughout the festivities with just 19 arrests made throughout the evening, including assault and drug offences.
No arrests have been made yet into an alleged stabbing that left three men wounded in Woolloomooloo just after midnight on Monday.
As people make their way home or continue their celebrations into New Year’s Day, police will continue to maintain a highly visible presence across the state to ensure everyone remains safe.”
The New Years celebrations featured two firework shows on Sunday night, the eight-minute “family fireworks” at 9pm and a 12-minute display at midnight.
Crowds were urged to get into their viewing position by sunset to ensure they were able to get a spot in time for the show.
Sydney was overcast and cool, hitting a low of 19C on Sunday night although spare for a few passing showers, the rain mostly stayed away.
