Dashcam footage has captured the horrifying moment a car was sent flying, flipping onto its side after a driver’s dangerous move on a major Brisbane thoroughfare, just outside Suncorp Stadium.
A clip of the multi-vehicle traffic crash along Hale St in Paddington on Friday night was posted to the Facebook page Dash Cam Owners Australia at the weekend.
In the footage – timestamped about 9.53pm – a white hatchback can be seen indicating left and trying to exit the road.
A black sedan then roars up the road, attempting to speed into the lane before striking the rear of the white hatchback.
The vehicle is sent flying, flipping multiple times as it comes to a rest on the side of the road.
A blue hatchback in the opposite lane is also clipped but the driver manages to maintain control.
Sparks are seen erupting from the black sedan after it momentarily leaves the road, before coming to a stop.
In a statement, a Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokeswoman said a 26-year-old Loganlea woman was treated for minor injuries as a result of the crash.
“A 19-year-old Moorooka man has been issued a traffic infringement notice – careless driving / due care and attention,” the spokeswoman said.
Dozens of commenters on the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page expressed their shock at the footage.
“So glad to see everyone rushing to the car that rolled,” one person wrote.
Another said: “Just minding your own business then all hell breaks loose.”
The footage was uploaded with the simple caption of: “Location: Hale St north bound outside Suncorp Stadium QLD”.
