Police suspect a home and a business have been targeted in separate attacks but both in circumstances where a car has been set on fire and driven into a building.
The incidents happened in Melbourne’s northwest overnight.
The first happened at a house in Essendon.
“It is understood two cars were set alight and then driven through the fence of a property on McCracken St about 2am,” police said in a statement.
“It is believed the incident was a targeted attack.”
A 47-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were home at the time but not injured.
The home sustained minor damage to the front window.
Images from the scene show a burnt-out four-door utility stopped up against the house with scorch marks to a bay window frame. The doorway portico is burnt as well.
Another burnt-out car, this one a five-door 4WD, was in the driveway.
A second incident occurred when another car was set alight and driven into a convenience store in Meadows Heights.
Images from the scene show a burnt-out four-door Nissan with a tray sitting on a driveway.
Police say the incident is suspicious.
Anyone with information on either incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers or submit a confidential report online.
