Popular brands of Camembert cheese sold at Woolworths stores across the country have been recalled over potential listeria contamination.
Two 125g Camembert cheeses are subject to the recall after they were found to contain potential microbial contamination, namely Listeria monocytogenes.
Both the Unicorn Classic Camembert from Snowbrand Australia, trading as Unicorn Cheese, and Community Co’s French Style Camembert have been affected.
The two cheeses with Best Before dates of November 8, 2023 were available for sale at Woolworths stores in Victoria, NSW, South Australia and Tasmania.
They were also sold at Natures Best, V & C Food Distributors and Bills Cheese and Yoghurts in NSW, as well as at Our United Food Co in Queensland.
Select independent stores, such as IGAs in Victoria and Queensland, also stocked the cheeses.
“Listeria may cause illness in pregnant women and their unborn babies, the elderly and people with low immune systems,” Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) said in a statement.
“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice and should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.”
Both Camembert products affected belong to Batch 123123E Est No 287.
