NEW DELHI: The Centre on Wednesday listed 18 Bills, including legislation aimed at replacing the colonial-era IPC, CrPC, and the Evidence Act, that may come up for debate during Parliament’s Winter session, which will be held from December 4-22.
According to a bulletin issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the government also plans to bring a Bill that seeks to increase the strength of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly from 107 to 114 in a bid to provide representation to Kashmiri migrants, displaced persons from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Scheduled Tribes.
Another crucial legislation awaiting action in Parliament pertains to the appointment of the chief election commissioner and other election commissioners.Another Bill that is likely to be tabled is one that extends women’s quota Bill provisions to J-K and Puducherry.
The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, is a proposed Bill introduced in the Lok Sabha. If enacted, it would replace the existing Indian Penal Code, 1860.

Besides the Bills, the government has listed the first batch of supplementary demands for grants for the year 2023-24 for presentation, discussion and voting during the session.
