Tributes for slain Victorian woman Chaithanya ‘Swetha’ Madhagani are pouring in, with calls for better multicultural support.

Ms Madhagani’s body was found inside a bin on Saturday afternoon, near the town of Winchelsea, about 25 kilometres west of Geelong.

Her husband, Ashok Raj Varikuppala, is understood to have left the area and gone to India with the couple’s three-year-old son.

Mr Varikuppala has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

On Monday Indian police said no complaint had been laid with them.

Ms Madhagani’s body was found in a wheelie bin on the remote road, and the crime has sparked a flurry of tributes and shock on social media.

“We need more women groups to help women speak up about their mental and emotional health issues,” one woman posted.

“If not report them but learn how to deal with them & know that there is help provided when asked. We are a multicultural country now but our laws do not understand the cultures enough to help,” she said.

Flower bouquets were seen outside Ms Madhagani’s home on Monday, and tributes have described Ms Madhagani as a beautiful lady and soul.

“She was lovely, outgoing, friendly. We are completely in shock,” one neighbour told 9News.

“This is horrible. What value do we hold on human life?” one woman said on social media .

“May her soul rest in peace,” one woman said on social media.

“Gone too soon. May she rest in peace,” another woman added.
