NEW DELHI: Former CMs Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh) and Sarbananda Sonowal (Assam), who figured in BJP’s first list of 195 candidates for Lok Sabha polls, thanked party leadership for reposing faith in them and said they will do everything possible for development of people.
While Chouhan promised to leave no stone unturned to serve people of Vidisha from where he has been fielded, Sonowal, now a Union minister who will contest from Dibrugarh, said with developmental works laying foundation, the place is ready to ascend the economic ladder.
Biplab Deb (Tripura) will be another CM in the fray.
After announcement of the list, Sonowal said: “…It is an immense honour to be considered for such a significant responsibility. I am truly humbled by the trust and confidence that BJP has placed in me.”
Senior leader from Assam added that ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’ has enabled socio-economic amplification among all sections of society as “we have seen delivery of welfare services through an efficient governance mechanism, with minimum govt interference”.
In a post in social media, Chouhan said: “…Respected Prime Minister @narendramodi ji is man of the era… He created history of public welfare by unprecedented development of India and now the resolve of developed India will also be fulfilled under his leadership. I have got the opportunity to contribute like a squirrel in fulfilling this resolution.”
“I have a close relationship with Vidisha parliamentary constituency, people here gave me the privilege of serving by electing me as MP five times. Once again the party has given an opportunity to serve this very family.”
Eyebrows were raised in certain quarters after Chouhan was not selected to continue as CM of Madhya Pradesh despite BJP’s impressive win in the assembly polls.
