VIJAYAWADA/RAJAHMUNDRY: When blowing whistle as a mark of protest is considered a crime in Andhra Pradesh, only judiciary and courts can rescue people from such false cases, TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh said, while participating in a one-day hunger strike to mark Gandhi Jayanti and to protest against the false cases foisted against his father and TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
TDP called for a one-day hunger strike on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Lokesh, who is in the national capital, participated in the hunger strike along with party MPs and senior functionaries. While Naidu observed hunger strike in jail, his wife Bhuvaneswari sat on hunger strike in Rajahmundry. YSRCP rebel MP, K Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, also joined Lokesh in the hunger strike in New Delhi.
Speaking to reporters, Lokesh said the skill development project was implemented at a faster pace with an intention to create job opportunities for youths of the state. “Naidu envisioned industrial development in the state post bifurcation and trained lakhs of students through the skills project. However, the vengeful YSRCP administration saw a scam and arrested him with false charges. The government is yet to produce any evidence, but is cooking up more cases with similar charges,” he said.
“YSRCP ministers are saying they are going to arrest me, my wife (Brahmani), and even my mother (Bhuvaneswari). We have complete faith in judicial process, and we will fight the cases legally. We will prove with evidence that these cases are nothing but political vengeance of chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy,” added Lokesh.
In Rajahmundry, Bhuvaneswari said Naidu built Cyberabad and people like Bill Clinton and Bill Gates praised his leadership. “Even if all my family members are arrested, TDP workers will take the party forward. We have no greed for public money,” she said, while lamenting that police are behaving rudely with women protesting against Naidu’s arrest.
