BENGALURU: Karnataka government on Sunday handed over to CID the probe into the death of 35-year-old sub-inspector Pa-rashurama after his wife accused a Congress MLA and his son of forcing him to die by suicide.
“The decision has been made to ensure investigation is impartial. Govt will provide a job to Parashurama’s wife on compassionate grounds, besides financial assistance,” Karnataka home minister G Parameshwara told reporters.
After the SI died on Friday night, his wife, Shwetha, filed a complaint against Congress MLA from Yadgir, Channareddy Patil Tunnur, and his son Pampanagouda (Sunny), alleging abetment to suicide and a cash-for-transfer scam involving Rs 30 lakh for a posting in Yadgir.
Opposition leader R Ashoka met Parashurama’s wife and offered condolences. “Congress has breached all limits of corruption. Since this govt took office, it has targeted Dalits,” he alleged.
