A surf lifesaver has stumbled upon a $200,000 brick of cocaine bobbing in waters off Sydney’s most popular beach.
In a video shared to social media, the lifesaver shows off the shocking bounty he picked up in the waters of Bondi Beach while patrolling on his rescue jet ski.
The storage compartment of the vehicle is thrown wide open and a small brown paper package with the words “ZOÉ” printed on the front in big bold blue and red letters, is nestled on top.
“I’ve just been up between the heads and just found this little package of what looks like cocaine,” he says in the video.
“There’s probably $100,000, $200,000 bucks in that little package there.
“Zoe, you’re going to miss out on your Christmas present.”
It is understood the lifesaver handed the package into police in January.
It is not the first time mysterious packages have washed up on the shores of NSW in recent weeks.
About 253kg of cocaine, in tightly wrapped packages, has been located since December 22, police confirmed.
Packages have been washing up on beaches on the Mid North Coast, Central Coast, Northern Beaches, Eastern Beaches, Newcastle, Wollongong and the South Coast.
State Crime Command are continuing to investigate a number of packages, believed to contain cocaine, that have appeared on the coast over the past month.
Detectives are working closely with local police and specialist resources such as Polair and Marine Area Command, as well as Australian Border Force and Surf Life Saving NSW, to seize any outstanding packages and determine their origin.
The public are reminded to report any suspicious package to authorities.
