The biggest night in fashion, the Met Gala was hit by deepfake photos!
At a time when images of celebs walking the red carpet were flooding social media sites, AI-generated images infiltrated the glamorous event, leading fans to double-guess the authenticity of the images being posted.
Amidst the glitz and glamour of the gala, many were left stunned as deepfakes circulated on fan handles, blurring the lines between fiction and reality.Among those images were ones of singer Rihanna, who was one of the prominent guests expected to make their appearance on the big night. An image doing the rounds online saw the star in a while and green dramatic gown with an elaborately structured accent shoulder that arched over her head.

Rihanna was scheduled to appear at the event tonight but reportedly backed out at the last minute after she contracted the flu.
Another celeb who was hit by AI images was Katy Perry. Images of the singer doing the rounds online saw her in an elaborate white and green ball gown with foliage detailing. Besides fans, the singer’s mother also fell prey to this digital manipulation and believed it was an actual image of Perry on the iconic Met staircase.

Sharing a chat with her mother reacting to her fake look, Katy shared, “lol mom the AI got you too, BEWARE!”

Images of Lady Gaga in a creation too good to be true also began doing the rounds on X. Keeping in mind Gaga’s elaborate appearances over the years, it was not too unbelievable to think that the images were ‘fake’.

Many attendees chose a floral look as they were told to dress in “Garden of Time” attire for the invite-only event, known for its A-list celebrities and extravagant outfits. Attendees walked a white and green carpet surrounded by lush foliage and white flowers up the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This year’s exhibit, called “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” will feature rare items that have been dormant in the Costume Institute’s permanent collection, including designs so fragile that they will be displayed only through animation and projections.
