NEW DELHI: In another step towards finalising the around Rs 67,000 crore contract for 97 more Tejas light combat aircraft, defence ministry has issued the tender to defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics for the mega indigenous fighter project.
MoD issued the RFP (request for proposal) for the 97 single-engine Tejas Mark-1A fighters to HAL on April 9, which in turn must respond with pricing, technical, delivery and other details within three months, sources said.
Defence Acquisitions Council had on Nov 30 last year given preliminary nod or acceptance of necessity for acquisition of 97 ‘improved’ Tejas jets, apart from 156 Prachand light combat choppers and an upgrade programme for 84 Sukhoi-30MKI jets, as was then reported by TOI. TNN
