NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, while participating in a roadshow in Moti Nagar on Sunday, attacked the BJP accusing the party of sending him to jail and accused them of being dictatorial .
“You all prayed for me. It is because of your love and God’s grace that I am standing amongst you today. Now these people are saying that after 20 days I will have to go to jail again. Now if you people do not want this to happen then vote for AAP and India alliance on 25 May,” said Kejriwal.
Further attacking the BJP he said, “I worked for Delhi, so BJP sent me to jail. My only crime is that I provided free electricity, water and health facilities to the people of Delhi. I provided free bus travel to women. BJP put me in jail for this crime. I built 500 schools. You are sitting in the Centre, you had to build 5000 more schools, but instead you put me in jail. The facilities being provided to Delhiites by BJP are not being seen.”
The Delhi CM also claimed that BJP’s “aim is to end reservation, constitution and elections from the country.” “These people want to bring dictatorship in India like Russia and North Korea. Where elections are not held. Only one person runs the dictatorship. If you do not want this to happen, then vote against BJP this time,” he further added.
The roadshow, held in support of AAP’s New Delhi Lok Sabha candidate Somnath Bharti, was also attended by Bhagwant Mann. The Punjab CM lended his support to the Delhi CM saying that, “Arvind Kejriwal may have come out of jail for only 20 days, but in these 20 days itself he will change the country.”
Kejriwal, who is currently out on interim bail until June 1 and is required to surrender on June 2, expressed his concerns about the consequences of his potential return to jail. He claimed that the BJP had sent him to jail because of his work for the people of Delhi and that they do not want him to continue serving the public.
The chief minister made allegations, stating that during his time in Tihar jail, his insulin injections were withheld for 15 days. He warned that if he were to be sent back to jail, the BJP would hinder the ongoing work in Delhi, including the provision of free electricity, the maintenance of schools, and the operation of hospitals and Mohalla Clinics.
Kejriwal also urged the public to vote for Somnath Bharti, emphasizing that Bharti would be readily available to assist people in need, even at odd hours.
Arvind Kejriwal, along with Bhagwant Mann, also held a roadshow in Uttam Nagar later in the day. There also he reiterated about dictatorship saying that, “My life is dedicated to the country. In these 20 days, I will travel all over the country and appeal to the people to defeat these dictatorial forces, otherwise these people will destroy the country, the constitution and reservation.”
Once again attacking the BJP he said, I’ve been out for 20 days, but if you press the broom button hard, I won’t have to go back to jail. They sent me to jail only because I worked for the welfare of the people of Delhi. The BJP people could not tolerate my work in the interest of the people and so they sent me to jail.”
Then he lent his support to the West Delhi Lok Sabha candidate. “Mahabal Mishra is a gentleman, he helps you in your happiness and sorrow. The BJP MP from here doesn’t even have the manners to talk. Have you ever seen him? You make Mahabal Mishra win by pressing the broom button, he will do all your work,” Kejriwal said.
