Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Fighter’ which released on Thursday had a decent start at the box office. Considering that it’s a non-holiday release, the opening is considered decent but not as per expectations. This one is a hardcore, massy action movie but the Day 1 number of the movie is similar to that of Shah Rukh Khan‘s ‘Dunki‘ in mass centers, which was a socio-comedy.
‘Fighter’ has made around Rs 22 crore on its opening day, in all languages as per Sacnilk.com, so, it cannot immediately be called a blockbuster. Infact, while the collection is similar to ‘Dunki’ in mass centres, the SRK starrer’s total numbers were even bigger – Rs 29 crore. But, the good part is that a huge jump is expected on Republic Day due to the holiday and there is also positive word of mouth and rave reviews for the movie. On Day 2, as per advances, the film is expected to make Rs 35 crore. What shall further play a role in determining the film’s success is how it does over this long weekend, especially on Sunday.
This is the first big film of 2024 and hence the trade expected a bigger number from it on its opening day. However, it has laid a decent foundation on Day 2 and if it does see a constant growth on Republic Day and over the weekend, then the trade wouldn’t have any complaint against it. It is expected that the film crosses Rs 100 crore in its first 4 days, up till Sunday.
‘Fighter’ directed by Siddharth Anand, also stars Anil Kapoor.
