VIJAYAWADA: The Nagarampalem police of Guntur district on Friday registered a case against former chief minister and YSRC president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and 4 others.
The case was also registered against former director general (DG) of police (Intelligence) PSR Anjaneyulu, former additional superintendent of police (CID) and Dr G Prabhavathi former superintendent of government general hospital, Guntur following the complaint from Undi MLA K Raghurama Krishnam Raju (RRR) of TDP.
The MLA brought up allegations like attempt to murder, custodial torture and criminal conspiracy against the police officers and Jagan Mohan Reddy.
During his detention, he was subjected to physical abuse, including being beaten and an attempt to suffocate him by sitting on his chest and choking his heart, he said.
The police have registered a case against them under sections 120 b, 166, 167, 197, 307, 326, 465, 506 r/w 34 of IPC and further investigation is on.
As per the FIR, Raghurama Krishnam Raju (former Member of Parliament from Narsapuram Lok Sabha constituency) mentioned that he was arrested by AP CID personnel in Hyderabad in May 2021.
Instead of producing him before the local court in Hyderabad and obtaining a transit arrest warrant, the CID personnel shifted the MLA to Guntur.
He mentioned that he was beaten by CID officer PV Sunil Kumar, PSR Anjaneyulu and a few other police officers with rubber belt and lathi.
The MLA was not allowed to take medicines for his heart-related ailment following the instructions of then chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
He also mentioned that the police personnel tried to kill him and his mobile phone was taken by the police and was tortured till disclose the password of the mobile phones.
