Former Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina is all set to leave for London after a brief stay in India as she landed at Hindon airbase near New Delhi on Monday, according to reports.
Meanwhile, national security advisor Ajit Doval met Hasina at the airbase. Foreign minister S Jaishankar also briefed PM Narendra Modi on the security situation in Bangladesh.
The C-130 aircraft with the call sign AJAX1431 carrying Hasina and her sister, after they fled the country, was being tracked Indian security agencies as it approached the border.
The Bangladesh Air Force plane flew over Patna and was tracked near the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border earlier.
Soon after Hasina’s departure, Bangladesh’s military chief, General Waker-uz-Zaman, announced intentions to consult the president about forming an interim government.
This came after the neighbouring country witnessed violent clashes with over 300 dead and thousands arrested in their protest against a preferential quota system for government jobs.
