BAREILLY: Gangster Arif Hussain (28), who had multiple criminal cases against him in Rampur, was shot dead in Bilaspur area of the district on Monday. He had murdered Mohd Shazim (30) from Jwalapur village in 2021 and was in jail for nearly two years in that case.
He was also charged under the Gangster Act by police. He recently got bail and had gone to attend a party thrown by his relative where he was allegedly shot dead by Shazim’s relative to avenge the murder.
Arif’s body was sent for autopsy. Heavy police force was deployed in the village to maintain law and order.
SHO Bilaspur police station Nawab Singh rushed to the spot and carried out a probe. A police source said, “Shazim was a police informer and had shared information about Arif’s criminal activities. On December 19, 2021, Arif and a few men shot Shazim dead in his car near a railway crossing in the village.”
SP (Rampur) Rajesh Dwivedi said, “Arif had a brief criminal history and we charged him under the Gangster Act after he was booked for a murder. He was out on bail and had gone to attend a function at a relative’s place. When he came out of the venue, he was shot twice in his head point-blank and he died on the spot. The accused is said to be a relative of the person Arif had killed in 2021. We’re yet to receive a written complaint.”

Builder shot dead in city on Dhanteras
A builder was shot dead by bike-borne criminals in Patna while people were busy shopping for Dhanteras. The victim, identified as Alok Sharma, was in the real estate business. The criminals overtook his car near Rupaspur Canal, shot him at close range, and fled the scene. Sharma was pronounced dead at a private hospital. The motive behind the murder is currently unknown.
