NEW DELHI: Haryana Congress president Udai Bhan found himself in a soup on Saturday after using “derogatory language” against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
BJP leaders lashed out at Bhan for his choice of words against PM Modi and Khattar and demanded an apology.
In a video that is now viral, the Haryana Congress chief can be heard using abusive words while referring to the Prime Minister and the Haryana chief minister.
He didn’t directly name them.
Reacting strongly to the remarks, former Tripura chief minister and BJP’s Haryana in-charge Biplab Kumar Deb dubbed Bhan’s remarks as a reflection of the “pervert mentality” of the opposition party.

“Is it Rahul Gandhi’s shop of love. Did any opposition leader condemn this? Has the Congress asked him to apologise,” asked the BJP Rajya Sabha MP.
Party spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi alleged that Congress has always used this kind of language for the Prime Minister.
“This video has caused extreme pain and anguish among BJP workers and the common man. This is below-the-belt language, it is the height of low-level politics which is being played by the Congress. Congress has always used this kind of language for the PM and his family,” he said.
Bhan, however, remained unapologetic and claimed that his words “were Haryanvi slang”.
“What have I said that is wrong … I have only described the truth. Is this language wrong, this is normal language in Haryana. We call unmarried men by this slang in Haryana and that is not an abuse” Udai Bhan told ANI.
He added that he has “only spoken the truth”.
Referring to BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri’s objectionable remarks in Lok Sabha against BSP’s Danish Ali, Bhan said had he said something similar to what the saffron party legislator said, he would have apologised.
“This is just a light comment made at a press conference which has been made into a needless issue. This is normal language used in Haryana,” he added.
