Hussain Kuwajerwala returned to TV as the host of Indian Idol five years after his stint on Sajan Re Phir Jhooth Mat Bolo. The 14th season of Indian Idol also marked his comeback to the music reality show after eight years. Regarding the gap between the two projects, Hussain tells us, “I wish I had a solid reason to explain the break, but I don’t. It wasn’t a conscious decision.I don’t plan things and follow my instinct instead. I have no complaints, as I have received a lot of love and affection over the years. Indian Idol came my way and I was happy with the offer, so I took it up.”

On the professional front, the Kumkum actor chooses to go with the flow. Does this approach extend to his personal life? Hussain tied the knot with his college sweetheart, Tina Darira, in 2005 following a nine-year-long courtship. Is the couple thinking about parenthood? “There was a period when we were content with the way things were. It’s not just about having a baby, but about when you want to have one,” he replies, adding, “However, it does feel like we are now in the last over. Although we still have some time, we are contemplating it more seriously. I have always believed that a woman needs to be ready for it, and it isn’t right to pressure her. A mother undergoes the maximum transformation and time commitment.”

In a previous chat, while talking about taking up Indian Idol, Hussain told us, “There isn’t a reason I will ever refuse a show like Indian Idol unless there is a date clash. The music reality show has given me recognition as a host and there are beautiful memories attached to it.”
When we pointed out how hosting has transitioned over the years, he said, “I am open to all of it. You throw any challenge at me, and I am game for it. The creative team knows what’s best for the show and I am willing to go all out. I will try to put in my 100 per cent and hope everything falls into place. I hope the audience also welcomes me with open arms.”
