“I have served in school and society for a long time and so everyone in the area, including Muslims, are with me.We do not see children from a Hindu-Muslim perspective at school… All students are treated the same,” she alleged.
Justifying her act, Tyagi, who has been booked by police for her act, added: “The boy couldn’t recall multiplication tables that day and his parents told me earlier to be strict with him… To discipline the children, teachers scold and also slap them if necessary. There may be laws against it, but sometimes, students have to be taught the hard way.”
Meanwhile, the basic shiksha adhikari (BSA) of Muzaffarnagar, Shubham Shukla, said that a team has been sent to Khubbapur village, where the school, Neha Public School, is situated, to conduct a probe in the matter.
Officials further said that the school management has been told not to operate until the departmental probe was complete, and block education officers have been asked to arrange seats for the students in nearby educational institutions.
