Ikea has announced the location of its latest shopfront in Australia, due to open its doors in 2024.
The homewares giant already has 12 store locations, with one in every state except Tasmania.
Perth residents are the lucky recipients of the store’s new outlet that is due to open in the southern suburb of Cannington.
It’s the Scandinavian franchise’s second location in Perth, with the first located in Innaloo in the city’s north.
However, locals shouldn’t expect to find Swedish meatballs and cinnamon buns, or any of the usual fanfare of Ikea mega stores, at the new location.
It will be stripped down into a smaller, streamlined plan and order point where residents can get one-on-one, expert planning advice from staff.
This will be the third of the new concept stores in Australia, including one in Melbourne’s west that opened in September 2022 and another that opened in Sydney’s northern beaches in June this year.
Ikea Australia market area manager Johanna Gbenplay said the new stores were part of the brand’s focus on making their products more accessible to customers.
“With Ikea Perth in Innaloo in the north, we’re so pleased to be able to offer a convenient location to our customers south of the river too from early 2024,” she said.
“We think our Perth customers will also love that Cannington is a new easy spot to pick up their Ikea order – whether it’s a big or small home furnishing or accessory that makes their home work better so life works better.”
Bookings for planning appointments at Ikea Cannington will be able to be made via the Ikea website from early 2024.
