HYDERABAD: An Indian student from Telangana, has been reported missing in Chicago since May 2. The 25-year-old Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi is pursuing masters from Concordia University, Wisconsin.
The Consulate of India in Chicago said Chintakindi was incommunicado since May 2. “The consulate is deeply concerned learning that Indian student Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi is incommunicado since May 2,” CGI Chicago said.
The consulate said it was in touch with the police and the Indian diaspora ‘hoping to locate/establish contact with Rupesh’.
The Chicago police in a notice has urged the public to provide information to it if Rupesh Chinctakindi was located. He was missing from 4300 block of N Sheridan Rd in Chicago where he resides.
Rupesh Chandra Chintakind’s father Ch Sadanandam, a resident of Hanamkonda district, said he spoke to his son on whatsapp on May 2 afternoon. “He replied he was doing some work. Later on I could not contact him and he is offline,” he said.
The family spoke to his roommates. They reportedly told him that he was going to meet someone from Texas who had come to meet him. “He went to meet them but we do not know who they are,” the family said.
Sadanandam said the police in Chicago was informed about Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi going missing. The family also contacted the US Embassy.
In a letter to union minister G Kishan Reddy, Sadanandam urged help to trace his son. The office of Kishan Reddy, minister for culture, tourism and development of north eastern region, Govt of India in a letter to the Ministry of External Affairs on May 8 urged CGI Chicago to help trace the missing Rupesh.
On May 9, CGI Chicago said said it was in touch with the police on the case.
