IT sector hiring: Leadership hiring in the IT sector is on the rise after a period of stagnation. IT companies are keen on filling pending leadership positions and exploring new roles post elections in India, the US, and the UK. The optimism stems from the hope for a more stable and favorable business environment.
Headhunters are witnessing an increase in demand for senior IT talent, with several search mandates expected to be finalized in the coming quarters, states an ET report.
Ratna Gupta from ABC Consultants sees a positive shift in the hiring landscape, especially among Tier-2 and Tier-1 IT firms. Companies are actively seeking C-suite professionals, with a focus on diversity and inclusion. ABC Consultants alone has around 20 search mandates for senior tech talent, a significant increase from the past.

IT hiring on the horizon

Ayaskant Sarangi, CHRO of Mphasis told the financial daily that the company’s ongoing search for senior talent is aligned with their growth vision. “Across geographies, capabilities, and domains, we continuously look for senior talent both internally and externally whose expertise aligns seamlessly with our vision, ensuring a well-knit team for growth. We have recently bolstered our Europe business, Insurance vertical, and AI business through external leadership hires,” Ayaskant Sarangi was quoted as saying.

Noteworthy movements in the industry include the hiring of an executive from a leading IT services firm by another major player. This trend indicates a flurry of activities to fill key positions in the sector.
Earlier, conversations were taking place regarding hiring but now companies are springing into action to close mandates, experts said.
Puneet Malhotra from Heidrick & Struggles says there has been a surge in demand for tech talent, particularly in North America. Indian IT companies are actively recruiting for CXO-1 level roles, reflecting a broader trend in the market, he said.

Pranshu Upadhyay, regional director at Michael Page India, says there has been a 26% year-on-year increase in senior leadership hiring in the tech sector. Roles such as CTO, CEO, sales, product, design, and engineering heads are in high demand.
“The demand is being generated at the back of emerging stories in tech and companies realising that this is a good time to pick up key talent from the market and engage them. We are seeing large IT/ ITES organisations opening up global search mandates in new geographies,” he said.
