CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar on Saturday said the visionary leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel during a book release function.
He emphasized Nehru’s role in modernizing India and Patel’s efforts in uniting princely states post-independence.
Pawar spoke about Nehru’s crucial vision for modern India which was essential for the country’s progress and development.
He credited Nehru for keeping the nation united post-partition, underscoring the necessity of his leadership during that critical period.
He also praised Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s administrative skills and his dedication to farmers and the working class. Patel played an instrumental role in integrating princely states into the Union of India, significantly contributing to the country’s unity after independence.
“Mahatma Gandhi knew the potential of both the leaders (Nehru and Patel) and their leadership qualities. Nehru’s vision of modern India was necessary for the country’s progress and development.
He had the vision to take the country on the world’s centre stage. His leadership was required to keep the country united post-partition,” Pawar said.
Pawar acknowledged the contributions of Dr. B R Ambedkar in drafting the Constitution of India. He also noted Ambedkar’s exceptional work in electric power and water resources management as a minister between 1942 and 1946.
At the event, four books written by Sheshrao Chavan were released. The titles include ‘Nehru-Patel Relations- Myth and Reality,’ ‘Dr B R Ambedkar – Disappointed and disillusioned in the evening of his life,’ ‘Culprits of Partition,’ and ’90 Not Out.’
