RAJKOT: In a brutal fall-out of a strained same-sex relationship, a 16-year-old Class 11 student was sexually assaulted and then murdered by an ‘over-possessive’ 22-year-old family friend who was seething in envy over the boy’s growing friendship with another person.
On Friday, the half-burnt body of the boy, who had gone missing a night earlier, was found at an isolated spot on the Jamnagar-Kalavad highway.
Police have arrested the alleged killer and his 19-year-old friend.
As the boy did not return home till late on Thursday night, his parents approached the police and lodged a missing persons’ report.
N A Chavda, inspector, A-division police station, said, “After the family approached us, we used human intelligence and technical analysis and found that the victim was last seen with the duo. They were traced, and they confessed to the murder. They took us to the crime spot and the entire plot was unearthed.”
Investigation revealed that the families of the deceased and the accused were close friends for many years.
