JAMMU: To facilitate voting by Kashmiri migrants in the upcoming J&K assembly elections 2024, Election Commission of India (ECI) has set up 24 special polling stations — 19 in Jammu, one in Udhampur and four in New Delhi.
Akin to the recent Lok Sabha elections, ECI has also decided to do away with the cumbersome procedure of filling Form-M for displaced people from Kashmir Valley residing in Jammu and Udhampur, said PK Pole, the Union Territory’s chief electoral officer in a statement issued Friday.
“Migrants residing outside Jammu and Udhampur, meanwhile, will continue to submit Form-M but they have been authorised to self-attest the certificate appended with the form, thus eliminating the hassle of getting it attested by a Gazetted Officer,” the CEO said.
Voting in the 2024 assembly elections will be held in all 90 assembly constituencies of J&K in three phases, including 47 assembly constituencies in Kashmir region.
