Elon Musk has announced its plans to launch a new artificial intelligence-powered game studio. The tech billionaire took to his social media platform X (earlier Twitter) to reveal that the gaming studio, which will be formed under his AI startup xAI, will aim to shake up the gaming industry and compete with major players like Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation. Replying to Dogecoin co-creator Billy Markus’ criticism of the influence of large corporations Musk expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of gaming. He also promised that the xAI gaming studio will “make games great again.” Recently, Musk called out Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella on X regarding allegations of discriminatory hiring practices within Xbox.

A podcaster named Ian Miles Cheong took to X to claim that Microsoft discriminates against Whites in its hiring process. Responding to these allegations, Musk tagged Nadella and said, “This is illegal …”
Cheong criticised Microsoft’s Xbox marketing team and wrote: “The Global Head of Marketing at Xbox/Microsoft wants you to know that if you’re a white male dude, the company doesn’t want you or care about you.”
Commenting on the post, Musk wrote: “Can they just make good games and skip the woke lecture?? Wtf”
Why Elon Musk wants to launch a game studio
The announcement came after Markus criticised major players of the gaming industry and wrote: “I don’t understand how game developers and game journalism got so ideologically captured. Gamers have always been trolls, anti-greedy corporations, anti-bs. Gamers have always rejected dumb manipulative bs, and can tell when someone is an outsider poser. Why lean into the bs?”
Replying to the post, Musk wrote: “Too many game studios that are owned by massive corporations. @xAI is going to start an AI game studio to make games great again!”
Earlier, Musk also criticised the inclusion of a pronoun selection feature in the upcoming Xbox game, Avowed.
“Having pronouns in a fantasy video game is utterly unacceptable 😡,” he wrote on X while condemning the feature.
With the xAI gaming studio, Musk aims to revolutionize the gaming industry by using AI to streamline game development and create more engaging experiences.
His new studio will likely focus on creating games that prioritise fun and avoid political messaging, reflecting Musk’s criticisms of the current gaming landscape.
This venture adds to Musk’s diverse portfolio, which includes electric vehicles, space exploration, and brain technology.
