CHENNAI: Tamil actor Kamal Haasan-led political party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) has joined the ruling DMK-led alliance in Tamil Nadu on Saturday.
The alliance has extended its support to MNM for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Amid speculations that Haasan’s party might be allotted seats to contest the Parliamentary polls, the DMK has allocated one seat to MNM for the 2025 Rajya Sabha polls.
The agreement was finalized between Haasan and DMK President and Chief Minister M K Stalin at the DMK headquarters in Chennai.
Haasan said “My party and I are not contesting this election. But we will give all cooperation to this alliance. We have joined hands as this is not just for a position, this is for the nation.”
MNM has pledged its full support to the alliance and will be involved in campaign-related activities in all 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and the Puducherry segment.
