Bollywood’s dancing sensation and diva, Karisma Kapoor, is currently on the judges’ panel of “India’s Best Dancer Season 4.” In an exclusive interview with ETimes TV, she discussed her experience judging the show, the changes she has observed in dance forms over the years, and her views on reality shows promoting sob stories.
Karisma Kapoor noted that while dance techniques and generations have evolved, she particularly enjoys seeing contestants perform old songs and adapt to her style.”Definitely, the techniques have changed, and generations have changed. But what I like to see is when the contestants perform our old songs and adapt to our style, and I’m sure it is difficult for them as well. I love it when they ask me to join them on stage. It is amazing how they adapt to me and how I adapt to them. I really enjoy that,” Karisma remarked.
Talking about reality shows promoting Sob stories, Karisma Kapoor said, “As I mentioned, the energy level and ethos of this show are very different. It is more about your talent, but everybody has a backstory. I have a backstory, and so do you. We all have been in difficult situations, and I think this is a platform to showcase talent and also to tell the world about their journey and how they got here. I don’t think there’s too much of that happening on our show. I cannot comment on others.”
The Raja Hindustani actress has been sharing anecdotes from the 90s, which the audiences have been enjoying on the show. Speaking about this, Karisma Kapoor mentioned how much she loves reminiscing about that era and connecting with the viewers through these stories. She says, “I am a very emotional person, and everything I do comes straight from my heart. Even when I share an anecdote, it is all true and organic. I don’t make things up or prepare in advance. I don’t come with a plan thinking, ‘Today I will say this or that.’ It is actually while interacting or watching that I recall something and speak from my heart.”
Karisma shared the reason behind judging India’s Best Dancer 4, “I was very happy to come as a guest judge on dancing shows haste hue dance karte hue shooting Karisma Kapoor special and go home. I loved that there was no extra responsibility, but now there is a responsibility and I’ve been on the show before as a guest on season 2-3. I had a great time and I really believed in the ethos and energy of the show, finally they convinced me to come on board.”
